April at Oak Valley has been a joyful and busy month, filled with signs of Spring and new beginnings. The children have enjoyed exploring the outdoors, observing blooming flowers, and taking part in Easter-themed activities, such as crafts and egg hunts. We have continued to support their learning through creative play, storytelling, and group activities, that encourage confidence and social skills. It has been lovely to see friendships grow, and the children’s curiosity flourish, as they engage with the changing season.
Little Hands Making St George’s Day Flags
In our Baby Room, they enjoyed celebrating St George’s Day by creating their own St George’s flags. Using safe, baby-friendly materials, they explored red and white colours, developing their creativity and fine motor skills. The activity provided a wonderful opportunity for the babies to express themselves, while being introduced to cultural celebrations in a fun and engaging way. It was lovely to see their curiosity and excitement as they proudly displayed their creations.
Fun and Adventures at the Park
The toddlers have been making the most of their time at the park, enjoying fresh air and plenty of space to explore. They have loved running, climbing, and playing on the equipment, building their confidence and developing their physical skills. The outings also provide wonderful opportunities for social interaction, turn-taking, and discovering the natural world, making each visit both fun and enriching.
Being Green: Sustainability in our Nursery
Oak Valley recently hosted a parent workshop based around sustainability, bringing families together to learn simple ways to support eco-friendly practices at home, and in the nursery. The session shared ideas such as reducing waste, recycling, and using everyday materials for creative play. Parents enjoyed engaging discussions and practical tips, helping to build a shared commitment to caring for the environment. It was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our partnerships with families, while promoting a greener future for the children.
Number Adventures in Pre-School
The Pre-School children enjoyed exploring numbers outdoors through a fun and creative painting activity. Using brushes, sponges, and their fingers, they painted numbers on large sheets and natural surfaces, helping to strengthen their number recognition and early counting skills. Being outside added excitement and freedom to their learning, allowing them to express themselves while developing fine motor skills and confidence. It was a playful and engaging way to combine maths with creativity and outdoor exploration.
