Spring fun at Riverview!

Here at Riverview, we have been enjoying the start of Spring, & some nicer weather!

The children have loved exploring the world around us, and talking about the start of planting and when to sow our seeds. We have shared ideas around recycling and what we could recycle and upcycle. The Pre-School children had suggested using old pots and pans as plant pots for our growing garden. We would like to say a big thank you to our staff and parents for using our recycling bins and upcycling.

Toddler Room workshop

The Toddler Room have loved hosting their parent/carer workshop this month. They enjoyed talking about ‘wonderful little me’, the people who help us, and how to keep ourselves and others healthy. The children explored sensory play, baked using healthy recipes, and shared all the fun of nursery with their families. The Toddlers really enjoyed working as a team before our workshop to help plan our activities; they talked about their favourite foods, their families, and the people they love. They all sat down together to draw pictures, and share their ideas and drawings with one another.

Hola!

During February we have been learning Spanish with Carmen from Kidslingo Spanish. The children have enjoyed exploring new words and sounds, and sharing this experience with their friends. Everyone shared their own home languages, holidays, and trips to new places with one another. Pre-School learnt their numbers in Spanish, and how to say hello – hola! They also touched on how to say some colours in Spanish, and how to sing ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’! The children really enjoyed joining in and learning a new language. Please see below more information regarding Carmen and Kidslingo!

Pride of Yorkshire!

We have been doing some ROAR-SOME fundraising for Sheffield Children’s Hospital, and are busy painting our very own lion cub! We held a bake sale, a crazy hair day, and a sponsored walk to contribute.

Nursery Council

Our Pre-School children have taken it in turns to share, and talk about their ideas. Our focus area at the moment is the garden, so we encouraged the children to express what they would like to add out there. The children had said they would like boats for the water, more den-making materials, things for obstacle courses, diggers, and lots more! We then put this in practice, and enjoyed creating an obstacle course. The children used their physical skills to balance, jump, and climb in order to navigate the structure!

Our amazing staff!

We have celebrated our recent ‘Employees of the Month’: Carys (Toddlers), Kassia (Babies), Emily (Pre-School), Amy G-C (Toddlers). Along with our Autumn Term Staff Bonus winner, Craig (Pre-School), and Autumn Term Keyworker Bonus winner, Lucy (Pre-School).

National Apprenticeship Week 2026

At Riverview we have loved celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2026 with all our amazing apprentices! We applauded their hard work and efforts by providing some tokens of our appreciation, in the form of goody bags, and a breakfast treat!
