What a fantastic month we’ve had at The Little School House! Although we experienced some incredibly warm weather, and even a few heatwaves, it still didn’t stop the fun! Our priority was keeping everyone safe and comfortable, while making the most of the sunshine, and the children embraced every moment.
Enjoying the Heatwave

To stay cool, we enjoyed plenty of water play both indoors and outdoors, splashing, pouring and exploring in a variety of exciting sensory activities. The children also loved making their own healthy ice lollies using fresh fruit and water, learning about healthy choices while creating a tasty summer treat. Throughout the warmer days, everyone made sure to wear their sun hats, drink lots of water and regularly apply sun cream, helping us all enjoy the sunshine safely.

Animal Encounters
One of the highlights of the month was a very exciting visit from Leanimals, who brought along a wonderful selection of fascinating animals for us to meet. The children had the opportunity to see and learn about a tortoise, snake, spider, rabbit, guinea pig, and even a centipede! Many of the children were brave enough to gently hold the animals and ask lots of questions, while others preferred to watch from a distance. It was a brilliant experience that encouraged curiosity, built confidence and helped the children learn more about the natural world.

Making Exercise Fun!
Our active learners also had great fun during visits from CryoSports and Superstar Sports. The sessions were packed with energetic games and exciting physical challenges that encouraged teamwork, coordination and confidence, while supporting the children’s physical development. Our Toddler and Pre-School children especially loved taking part and burning off plenty of energy!

Learning a New Language
Language learning also took centre stage this month with a visit from Kidslingo, where the children were introduced to a variety of fun Spanish words and phrases. We incorporated these into our ‘Word of the Week’, giving everyone the chance to practise their new vocabulary throughout the nursery. With several of our families looking forward to holidays in Spain, the children were particularly excited to learn words they could use on their adventures, and enjoyed talking about their upcoming trips with friends and practitioners.
Off to Big School
As we move closer to September, our school leavers have been busy preparing for their next exciting adventure. We have welcomed local schools into the nursery to visit the children and support them with their transition into Reception. These visits have helped the children build confidence, ask questions and become familiar with some of the friendly faces they will see when they start school. We are so proud of how much they have grown and can’t wait to see them flourish in their new classrooms.
Celebrating the World Cup
We had a fantastic time celebrating and supporting England in the World Cup! We made England flags, played our own football match, and learned some fun football songs and chants. We also enjoyed tasting delicious foods from around the world and learned about different countries and cultures. It was a fun-filled day of football, food, music and teamwork. We all had a brilliant time cheering for England!

Finally, we are delighted to welcome Josie to our team. Josie has settled in brilliantly and has already become a valued member of the nursery family. We know both the children and staff will enjoy getting to know her over the coming months.

As always, we’d like to thank all of our wonderful families for your continued support. We can’t wait to share even more exciting adventures with you next time!
