August… a month of endless possibilities and sunshine
Not only are the days longer and the weather is brighter too, there’s an endless choice of activities and so much for us to do!
Olympic Activities
With the Olympics in full swing, Rising 3’s have joined in with the fun and made their very own Olympic torches and rings. The children looked at all of the different types of competitions held at the Olympics 2024 and decided to hold their very own ‘Oak Valley Olympics’ on the garden, participating in different events to win medals.
Arrr-gust… International Pirate Month
Our Toddler Room celebrated International Pirate Month by creating their sensory pirate tuff tray. This inspired them to make their own pirate hats and treasure maps, and go on an exciting treasure hunt in the local community.
Park Life
Baby Room have been making the most of the sunny weather and have enjoyed an outing to the local park. They had fun on all of the different equipment in the park, and loved exploring the natural surroundings.
School Council
With September just around the corner, Pre-School have been preparing for the new term ahead. They all got together and discussed their likes and interests, and what they would like to do for the new term.
Sensory Activities at Oak Valley Nursey
Sensory play is an important part of Early Years learning. Here at Oak Valley, we like to take every opportunity to let the children explore using all of their senses. Sensory play allows babies, toddlers and young children the freedom to explore, helping them to develop and problem-solve.
Tuff Tray Experiments
Toddlers have loved exploring and experimenting with different sesnsory items to make their own potions using all of their senses and working as a team.
Monster Playdough
The children in Rising 3’s have loved being creative and making their own monsters using the playdough and loose parts. They used their fine motor skills to manipulate the playdough and make their own monster face. The children also talked about feelings and what makes them happy and sad.
Staying Active in Early Years
Staying fit and active is an important part of a balanced life. Here at Oak Valley, we try our best to have a positive attitude when being active, and provide a wide range of fun and challenging activities.
Parachute Fun
Babies have been enjoying some gross motor skill development and have worked as a team playing with the parachute.
Super Star Sports
Pre-School have got their hearts pumping by taking part in a session run by Super Star Sports. They followed the instructions of the coach, and worked together and independently to develop their gross motor skills, and then talked about the effects exercise has on their bodies.
