Welcome!
Here at Kingswood we are proud of the diversity of the community we serve, & of all the different languages that are spoken within our setting.
Children enjoy learning words & phrases in different languages, learning about different countries, religions & festivals.
This half term, the language we are focusing on is Polish!
A couple of phrases that the children are learning are: Good afternoon – Dzień dobry, & Good morning – suprabhat
Pancake Day!

We started the month off with the very lovely treat of Pancake Day! Who doesn’t love a pancake?! We allowed all the children to have a pancake for their snack & choose from a selection of toppings. We promote allowing the children freedom of choice & independence. With the older ones in particular, we supported independence by letting them spread their own toppings, & had discussions around why we celebrate pancake day.

Some children even decided to take them home!
The staff had some to enjoy on their breaks too!

Later in the week, we celebrated World Book Day. Here, some of the children enjoyed dressing up as their favourite characters from their favourite books. We asked the children to bring in their favourite books to read & share with their friends, & we extended their learning by incorporating lots of activities around the different stories. For example, role play, different tuff trays, singing, & discussions to name a few. Some of the staff enjoyed dressing up too!

I wonder if you can guess the book in our tuff tray here?

During the week we also asked parents to engage in a sponsored listen/read at home with their children to allow us to gain some new books for the nursery. This was supported by Usbourne Books.
Ramadan & Eid!

Durning March we saw the start of Ramadan which the children decorated their own moons to take home. We had some parents and staff fasting, so we talked about why this was important to them. We would also like to wish all those celebrating Eid a very happy Eid Mubarak. We even treated the staff in some tasty halal sweets to celebrate.

St Patrick’s Day!

Here you can see some of the children decorating their own shamrocks! The children also enjoyed listening & dancing to some lively Irish music, & exploring St Patricks Day themed sensory opportunities, looking for gold in the slime!
Red Nose Day!

On 21st March 2025 we celebrated Red Nose Day by wearing something red & having our very own bake sale. The children loved getting involved to explore adding & mixing all the ingredients together to make all the yummy treats that we sold to both staff & parents to help raise money for the well loved & supported charity.
Happy Mother’s Day!

Finally, to end the month, I would like to wish everyone out there a fabulous Mother’s Day! Our children made a card for those that they wanted to celebrate with.
